Mach
Mach3 is the flagship of the ArtSoft products. It is released in two versions: a Lockdown version, and a Development version. The Lockdown is a stable, static release recommended for new users, or people trialing the software. The Development version contains developing features and is released quite often so people can obtain new (but untested) features and capabilities. Both releases are limited to 500 lines of Gcode until licensed. Mach3 has a limit of 10,000,000 lines of Gcode even after licensing.
*You must use a Desktop PC running a 32-bit version of Windows if you are using the Mach3 Parallel Port Driver. Laptops are not supported because the power saving features of the chipsets disrupt the pulse stream. Mach3 will only be supported on laptops running an external motion controller, such as one of those found on the Plugins page.*
MachStdMill (MSM)
The new screenset that will be standard with Mach3 V4 is now available for preview! Please note that as of the first Beta release, MSM REQUIRES Mach3 V3.043.010 or later. Please see the MSM Readme for more information.
Mach3 - Vista
Mach3 will run under 32-bit versions of Vista with the following registry patch:
Legacy Mach Versions
These are older versions of Mach for those that would like to redownload for an existing application or installation (all versions can be found on the FTP Server). Mach2 is limited to 1000 lines of Gcode until licensed.
LazyCam (BETA)
LazyCam is a beta-release free importer included with Mach3. It's purpose is to import standard dxf, cmx, and other file types to allow those that do not use CAM programs to more easily generate Gcode to be run under Mach3. The free edition of LazyCam that is included with Mach3 carries no cost. However, there is an optional PRO level upgrade that turns on advanced features such as object offsetting, pocketing, primary foam functions, importation of DXF profiles for conversion to Lathe turning code, etc. It is optional, but gives one the ability to do more advanced importation of objects. Due to the availability of other low cost CAM packages, LazyCam is in semi-permanent Beta and no longer being actively developed. LazyCam is not intended for use in a production environment.
(Note: Requires the ".net 2.0 update" from Microsoft to prevent an error at startup.)
ArtSoft Recommended CAM Programs
While Mach3 does come with LazyCam for very simple tasks, it is recommended to use a full CAM program. The CAM programs in this section are highly recommended products, and include Mach3 post-processors. If you have a requirement for CAM programs, we highly suggest you try these products.
Quantum
Quantum was an experimental attempt at a next generation of motion control software. Development ceased in a pre-Alpha, early development stage. It is available "as-is" and not at all supported. Many of the features that were slated for Quantum have since been included in Mach3
Mach3 Programmers Resources
These programs are used by developers for writing plugins and adding options to Mach3, or to interface others programmers code to Mach3's interface.
Documentation
Downloadable PDF manuals for Mach2/3 can be found on the Documentation page. There is no manual for LazyCam as it is still an evolving program. Video tutorials for both Mach and LazyCam are also available.
